Nikon Nikkor 80-200 MM F2.8 F/2.8 Ed Lens, Near-mint
For what amounts to a 120-dollar discount. Gently used 80-200 f/2.8 nikkor (nikon) ed, made in japan.
Extraordinarily smooth push-pull ring for fast zooming. At large apertures, this lens is the king of bokeh, rendering subjects beautifully sharp and detailed while throwing backgrounds out of focus for that creamy pro look.
The 80-200 f/2.8 ed will work great with every nikon slr i’m aware of, both film and digital. The glass and aperture blades are clean and free of oil and contaminants. Upon very close inspection, i can spot dust inside the lens, but this has never never shown up in the photos i’ve taken with it and even brand new nikon lenses, fresh out of the factory, often have dust inside that you can see with the naked eye. This 80-200 f/2.8 ed has been kept in a well-padded moisture-free pro pelican case in a smoke-free and pet-free studio for as long as i’ve owned it, and it’s been taken on location in that same case perhaps a dozen times.
It has never been dropped or suffered impact worth mentioning. It is free of abrasions. It does have an irregular surface scratch next to the distance scale, less than an inch long, but this is so slight that i didn’t even succeed in taking a photo in which the scratch actually showed up.
The beautiful crinkled metal finish is otherwise unblemished. The rubber surface on the zoom ring is bonded to the lens barrel as tightly as the day it left the factory, there is absolutely no play, which is how it should be. Wish i could say the same for the other nikon lenses i own!
Both optically and cosmetically, this lens is a 9 out of 10. Focus of the 80-200 f/2.8 ed on my d700 bodies is spot-on - sure, af is not quite as fast to ‘lock’ as, say, the new 70-200 f/2.8 vrii, but that’s a $2,400 lens… The contrast of the 80-200 f/2.8 ed is excellent, and the resistance to flare is good to very good. Try as might, i can’t find anything truly critical to say about this wonderful piece of professional glass. Option and i’ll also send you. (cuts uv haze in your photos and protects the front element of your lens from damage). Pretty girl and bagpipers not included!
