Pentax Smc-fa* 24mm F2 Wide Angle Lens
Pentax smc-fa 24mm f2 wide angle lens. Here is a lightly used pentax wide angle lens for digital and film slr’s. It’s a shame that pentax discontinued this lens because it’s truely a masterpeice. The build quality is excellent and the star designation indicates that a significant extra effort went into the design and manufacture of the lenses. Let me tell you it sure shows; the color and sharpness is excellent.
The 24mm focal length is lots of fun on a film body and at 36mm (equivalent) on a digital body this lens will find lots of uses. This particular example is in excellent conditions, with the lens wide open you can see a dust particle or two but you need to look hard. There are a few marks on the hood but the body is very clean. The focus is smooth and well damped and the quick shift function between auto and manual function works well and the aperature ring is snappy.
Try it for 2 weeks, if this lens fails to meet your expectations for any reason.

Owners of this lens give the following reviews. I used it for landscapes with my slides and it produced fantastic results. I compared it to my 28-70 canon l lens, and the pentax is sooo much better. This lens is perfect for dslr.
Great for indoor and outdoor use. Still very affordable, and a must have in my collection. This lens is a perfect match for any dslr. People are clamoring all over the 50mm primes and not noticing this lens much.
For me, the 50mm lens on a dslr produces too narrow a fov. Great picture quality and sharpness to boot. I do wish it was a little faster just for those rare situation where it may come in handy.
As it is, it’s sufficient for 99% of my needs. Come to think of it, had it been faster, i wouldn’t have been able to afford it. Very sharp and detailed even to the edges from f4 onwards; for me the field of view is ‘just right’ for a standard prime taking into account the 1.5 markup. Very small, lightweight and convenient. I have the da21 - sometimes i tell myself to sell the fa28 but can’t bring myself to do it. They are equally nice to use, and the difference of fov is enough to warrant keeping both. Manual focusing is ok, but the focusing ring (similar to the fa50s) is not as pleasurable to use as the k or m series. Just the slightest softness at f2.8 - more a loss of contrast than a loss of resolution, and easily countered in pp; still very usable and sharper than (say) my fa50 1.4 wide open.
Everybody talks about the sharpness of the fa35 f2 wide open and this one would be an obvious alternative: i haven’t compared them, but the fa28 is excellent for what i use it for - lightweight travel/walkaround, and i like the focal length. I use this lens as normal lens (42mm) for my k100d.
I’m not satisfied with pentax’s kit lens, too much purple fringing when shooting outdoor, and too slow when shooting indoor. One of the best and reasonably priced general purpose prime lens for pentax dslr. This is a not a lens you find every day. Build quality and optical quality are impressive, as is the maximum aperture of the lens, which is. Faster than the kit lenses that come with dslrs today, meaning better low-light capabilities.
The pentax-fa lenses are sought after for their build quality, combined with compact size, and (of course) high quality along with autofocus on pentax film or digital slrs. Pentax optical design and coatings are second to none. This lens will provide a 42mm-equivalent focal length on pentax dslrs. I’m an old school film shooter, and optical quality is important to me.
This lens comes with the original rear cap and third-party front lens cap. No oil on aperture blades. To most countries it would be approx. $32 and be delivered in 5 days. Please see my other items for more pentax lenses in similar excellent condition!
