Scarce smc takumar 400mm f5.6 telephoto lens by asahi pentax japan m42 screw fit in good condition. [more photos - see below]. Designed during the golden age of film photography for use on pentax etc film cameras with m42 mount. Sought-after today to use with an adapter [not supplied] on the latest digital slr camera bodies.
This is a long lens designed to bring distant objects closer. It will compress perspective dramatically in landscapes and is also good for wildlife and astronomy. Stunning glass enables it to yield sharp and contrasty images for such a long lens. Thanks to asahi’s super multi-coated optics = smc. Flare is avoided by using the built in telescopic lens hood.
Heavy to hand hold - so the lens is provided with a rotatable tripod collar. Comes complete with original case [tatty] and front and rear caps. This lens is well used with plenty of signs use [see photos].
Cosmetically the paintwork has a few scuff and scratches and the tripod mount shows evidence of plenty of work. Absolutely no dings or dents. Front and rear glass elements are bright and unmarked. No haze or fungus but there a few dust motes inside.
I do not think these will affect the quality of your images. This lens provides a bright viewfinder image. Focus is smooth but noisy which suggests it needs lubrication. Aperture ring rotates nicely with positive clicks for all stops [and some half stops].
All the lettering and legends are readable. 400mm f5.6 super telephoto lens.
Made between 1970 & 1975 in japan by asahi optical co. Close focus to 26 feet / 8 m. Focus requires 285â° rotation from close up to infinity. Filter ring diameter is 77 mm. Built in telescopic lens hood.
Aperture stops from f5.6 to f45 with some half stops. Lens length: 283mm 305mm [345mm with hood extended]. Lens [with caps] weighs: 1.3 kg / 2 pounds & 14 ounces. Case & strap [tatty] weighs: 420 g / 15 ounces.

Asahi Pentax Smc Takumar 85mm F/1.8 M42 With Hood Rare!
This lens is well-known for its sharpness and out of focus blur. Mounts easily on canon dslr with an m42/eos adapter. For an exhaustive review of the auto takumar sister lens look here. Aperture fixed at 1.8 (blades seem to be removed). Marks (picture 6) between the lens elements but not on the lenses themselves !
Pictures are cristal clear see picture 7 and 8 - crop of picture 7: tack-sharp and superb out of focus blur !!!! Ef 35mm l f/1.4 shown on pictures 7 and 8 is not inlcuded !
Barrel / lens body: normal wear. Asahi pentax super multi coated takumar 85mm f/1.8 lens m42 mount. Original rear cap (no front cap). Orginal lens hood rare !!

Pentax takumar 1:1.8/85 1:1.8 85mm m42 screw mount lens. This lens has the m42 screw mount. Optics are nice, no haze, mold, fungus, cleaning marks. If you look really close you can see a hair inside lens. I did not notice this in any of my photos taken with this lens. Slight indentation on filter ring, i can still put a filter on this lens. Smc Takumar 15mm 3.5 Aspherical Rectilinear Lens
Pentax smc takumar 15mm 1:3.5 aspherical rectilinear lens in excellent condition with original case and its end cap. The focusing rings all move smoothly and i can’t see any wear, scratches or dings to the body of the lens. The lens is clear and scratch free, no fungus, however in the last two pictures of the lens especially the one pointing with a pencil i tryed to show a small area of rainbow-like or could be described as the look of oil on water effect, on the lens. When looking through the lens the way the camera would view the lens it isn’t visible only when you turn it toward light when viewing the surface of the large lens you can see this.
This is not over the entire surface but in one small area. It may be connected somehow to the multi coating on the lens?
We aren’t experts with photographic equipment so i don’t know what term to use to describe this. Please enlarge and view the pictures for the best idea of condition. This lens is a screw mount or m42 not a bayonet mount.

M42 Pentax Super Takumar 50mm F1.4 Early 8 Element
Here is a nice scarce 8 element super takumar 50mm f1.4 in m42 screw mount. Again this is the early desirable 8 element version serial no. Later versions of this lens were a 7 element version that was less expensive to manufacture. I did not get the best angle and lighting to show the rear lens but it does protrude from the mounting, as any 8 element copy would.
These lenses do not show up often and i almost never find this lens anymore. The lens is very clean but has one hairline mark on the rear lens. This is tiny and it will have no effect whatsoever on the lens performance. The rest of the glass is clean maybe a spec or two but no problems.
The lens barrel is clean and only shows very minimal specs on the black lens paint. As you might expect the focus action is smooth, and the aperture is clean and snappy.
The a/m switch works correctly and the lens has click stops down to f16. Here is a great chance to grab a super lens.
The lens comes with a pentax 49mm snap in front lens cap and a rear m42 screw on cap. The lens also comes with a vivitar marked rigid lens case. Thanks for taking a look!
I work very hard to find any defects on the vintage glass that i is possible but not likely that i may miss something. These lenses to sell but some are not perfect and i note whatever. Problems i find in detail. A real photographer you know that even brand new lenses come with dust. And some specs on the glass.
Please do not expect to put a 20-50 year. Old lens on a microscope and find absolute perfection. Care of my customers but if you are a. Once the package leaves my hands i can not be. But it can happen and you agree to take the risk.

F/1.4 50mm Asahi Pentax M42 Screw Mount Super-Takumar Lens. Lens comes with front lens cap, and an Asahi Ghostless UV Filter. Lens shows normal signs of wear for its age. Superb Smc Pentax Takumar 85mm F/1.8 Portrait Lens
This is definitely one of, if not the best and most coveted takumar lens ever made. It’s sharp from f1.8 and gets incredibly sharp by f2.8.
It’s noticeably sharper than my super-takumar 85mm f1.9. If i could only keep one takumar lens, this would be it.
It’s a wonderful street shooting and portrait lens. Flare resistance is high and sharpness is unparalleled in the 85mm class. The only pentax 85mm lens sharper than this is probably the a 85mm f1.4 which cost about 3x as much. Below are a few of my favorite photos taken with this lens. I will include the original caps, cases and hood!
Excellent over all but some buffoon had etched his social security number on the aperture barrel, neatly at least. There is also a small amount of paint worn off the filter threads, which is covered normally by a filter. Check photos below to see the etching. Small amount of dust consistent with lens age. Super smoothed and dampened like all takumars.

Hello and thanks for viewing our listing! Please read the description carefully. This is a pentax super takumar 85mm f1.9 m42 screw mount lens with front and rear caps. It will of course fit a large variety of cameras including many current digital slr’s with the correct adapter (not included). The glass is in great shape, no marks, haze or fungus.
There is a fairly large dust speck inside the lens, but it has no affect at all on images. I have done a bit of shooting with this lens on my pentax k-7 and this is one fun lens to shoot with! Super control over depth of field and the best bokeh. Focusing is smooth and the blades are fine. Cosmetically, the lens is in very good shape with light signs of use.
Please see the photos, only what is pictured is included. We have lots of nice camera equipment listed now. I have had a few questions about the large dust speck in the lens. Again, i have been using this lens and it does not affect images at all. I also shot a test grid with the lens and there was no affect at all from it being in there.

Rare 8 Element Pentax Super Takumar 1:1.4/50 50mm M42
Up for sale today is one rare. Rare 8 element pentax super takumar 1:1.4/50. The first and most important version of the famous line of super takumar primes - later versions were fitted with 7 elements. Identification - aperture number font is different from the latter series - infra red marker is set within aperture ‘4′ - see picture no 4. Optic glass condition: perfect &.
Cosmetic condition: good some brassing. Aperture blades: clean and snappy. Please note picture number 3 (not 4) infra red marker is set within aperture ‘4′. It is to the right of the number not to the left like all later versions. Also note the early serial number 1338745.

Very Nice Pentax Super Takumar 85/1.9 Lens In M42 Mt.
Pentax super takumar 85mm f1.9 portrait lens in m42 (or screw) mt. With extras as listed below.
This lens can be used on most dslr bodies with appropriate adapters. However, only stop-down metering can be employed and no af function. I have used similar lens with eos af confirmation adapter on my rebel t1i dslr body or maxxum af confirmation adapter on my konica minolta 7d body and captured very nice macro images with incredible bokeh.
The last two images were captured by using this portrait lens with adapter to my dslr body at my home garden. (1) pentax super takumar 85mm f1.9 lens s. (2) honeywell pentax metal push-in lens cap. (3) takumar screw-in rear lens cap. (4) hoya 58mm skylight (1b) filter lens.
As shown by 10 detailed images, all items are in very clean condition. All the letters and numbers look bright and clear without losing original paints. There are no scratches, cleaning marks, haze or fungi on both front lens and rear lens or.
The aperture ring of the lens clicks positively on every stop. The aperture mechanism works excellently and the action is snappy without hesitation. Both auto and manual settings work as they should. The focusing ring turns smoothly as it should. There is no damage to the front filter ring of the lens.
In fact, as i mentioned above, eric also cleaned oil from diaphragm, aperture and focusing rings. Therefore, this lens should provide the new owner years of trouble-free service. For international winner, it will be via insured ems with tracking information for $37.50.
